Clackamas Community College Fall Cohort!

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

Hello Everyone!

I just found out that I got accepted at Clackamas Community College for the nursing program this fall! I thought I would start a topic group for all of us, so that we can get to know eachother. I am so excited. I feel that I have worked so hard to get here, and the door was finally opened!

A little about me: I am 30, 31 in 2 weeks. I have worked for Providence for almost 7 years, in all different areas, but currently a supervisor in the billing office. I want to go into hospice nursing, at least right now.

I can't wait for orientation next month!

I agree with prfoodie Mt Scott is a nice area to live, as well as Happy Valley. I live in the Oak Grove/Milwaukie area (decent w/ a commute of approx 15 min). I would avoid the immediate areas surrounding SE 82nd however, as the crime rate is seemingly higher.[/quote']

Thanks for the "avoid" recommendation - that's exactly the kind of help I'm looking for because it's what looking at a listing doesn't tell you! I've been looking in Oak Grove/Milwaukie as a possibility.

To be honest, I would try to rent a house if you can. Go through a property management company to avoid slum-lords. And they will be able to show you a bunch of properties.

Hey everyone! I've started shopping for some of the supplies we will need. I just found a great website for lab coats. I was even able to find a 20% off coupon code. I was purchased a Dickies lab coat for under $26, including shipping. the website is Professional Medical Lab Coats & Jackets and the coupon code to enter at checkout is RMN6713SAVE20

The coupon code does not expire until 8/30/2013 (allegedly).

Cheers!

Thanks Erin... will definitely make sure to check it out!

Where is everyone buying their scrubs and what brands?

I've already ordered mine from ScrubMed in Beaverton (got the 10% discount for being a CCC student). I ordered the Jockey brand. They're super comfortable and fit me very well.

Disclaimer: I have a very hard time finding scrubs that fit. I am 5'0" and 105 pounds. I had to order XXS tops and XXS Petite pants. Total cost for two tops and two pants (after discount) was $91.80.

I haven't gotten my scrubs yet but will most likely buy them at Life Uniform in Clackamas. I like the Grey's Anatomy brand~ good fit & pretty comfortable!

So, how is everyone coming along with all their requirements? I still have quite a bit to cover, but looking forward to it. :)

I am nearly done my requirements. The last 2 we can do before Fall are uploaded and processing now. I am looking at ordering my scrubs online from allheart.com, as well as my supplies. My mom is a BSN and she recommended Landau scrubs, so I've been looking at them.

Simplesmile just so you are aware, I waited about 3-4 weeks for my order from allheart-- and had to contact them twice about when it was coming. So make sure if you do order through them to leave enough time to do so. A lot of local stores give a good discount and you can purchase similar items for about equal price.

Thanks for the heads up! I'm still in Eugene, haven't moved yet... But I'm in Portland pretty regularly, so any recommendations on scrub shops, and how do I get the discount?

Does anyone know if there is a Facebook page set for Clackamas nursing students yet?

Christy24,

Each class sets up their own. If there isn't one set up yet, message me, and I can help you with the details.
