Man... Thats discouraging mamakac. From looking at your posts it seems like you have a great application! Great GPA's, prior degree, volunteer work. But yet you still got turned down from PCC and OHSU. I hope you have luck with the ABSN program. Keep your head up.

I got an invitation to the proctored essay for PCC as well! I am beyond excited! PCC is my first choice so I really hope I am offered a spot.

I also got my email yesterday inviting me to the essay phase at PCC on April 18th. I'm super excited. My "stats" are 4.0 prereq's and volunteer time at Providence St. Vincent's. I did 90% of my prereq's at PCC so I got a few of the points for that. I have no prior degree and am 34 years old. I'm also waiting to hear back from OHSU but would only go there with a hefty scholarship. A huge congrats to all making it to the next phase and a huge hug for those who did not. I wish you all luck in reaching the goal of becoming an RN!

I'm starting CNA training in April (or maybe May now that I'd have to miss class for the essay). I'm really excited about this because I feel like it will help me move in the right direction by giving me a job I can do while in school that understands that I won't be there forever, and also give me a big boost for next year if I don't get into PCC or OHSU this go round.

I also got an invite to the PCC essay on April 16th! So excited! I have been waiting forever to get to this point it feels like! I have 3.8 gpa and have worked as CMA for almost 5 years. Completed all pre-req's at CCC and have prior degree. I applied at PCC and CCC. I'm not sure which I would pick but I live only 5 min away from CCC which would be nice but I would jump on any opportunity given! Best of luck to everyone and if you didn't get it this time around I highly recommend getting experience in the medical field or retaking any classes you got a B in. That's what I did :)

So I'm paranoid! I just noticed that I'm in the Bcc field in the email and that it was sent to another person. I emailed my RSVP back but I also emailed asking if it was a mistake to send it to me! I'm a little nervous, I wish I hadn't noticed until the weekend was over :dead:! For you others that got invited to the PCC essay, could you let me know if the email was sent to you directly or if you were in the Bcc field? I feel kind of silly posting, but figured I would ask.

I also got an email yesterday inviting me to take the essay on April 16th! I'm super nervous! My stats were a 3.91 gpa for my pre reqs, a previous bachelor degree, and I had 57/60 points. I also have been a CNA for a little over a year and had 600+ hours for the application. Time to start practicing more for the essay! Congrats to everyone who also got an invite and good luck on the essay!

Bradylee, my email also had me in as the Bcc so you're not the only one.

Just got my PCC email essay invite! I'm so excited. From what I've seen here, it looks like the competition is really good this year. Good luck everyone!

P.S.

I'm not sure where I got this, but it might help.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 22ND, 2011 BY ADMIN LEAVE A COMMENT

Practicing nursing school interview questions is essential to being calm and prepared during the interview process. If you are feeling apprehensive about your interview, give yourself ample time to do mock interviews, scout out the location where it will take place, and get your contact information in order in case anything goes wrong.

Like a typical job interview, the idea is to dress to impress. Business attire is highly recommended and it is safer to be conservative with your outfit choice.

After you have picked your attire and forged a plan to give yourself plenty of time to arrive on the day of your interview, you should find a partner to practice example nursing school interview questions.

Oh thank you for replying, even that makes me feel way better. I figure they wouldn't make a mistake like that but I know you all understand my craziness!. J.C. you had a LOT of points! I think I had 53. I had two points for volunteering. Since I didn't have another degree or more patient experience to boost my points up I retook four classes I got B's in to get A's. I knew I needed the 4.0 to get me the extra points I was lacking in other areas.

Congrats everyone!

bradylee - Where are you taking your CNA training course? I am thinking of doing that as well so I can work a bit while going to school (I have a prior degree so I won't need to take any classes other than the nursing curriculum).

apple74 - I've seen similar lists out there. Thanks for sharing! I have been practicing my answers to these types of questions. I am hoping I'll get an interview at CCC as well (these seem like the type of questions they'll ask in the interview).

I also was in the bcc field - I think it must be a way to protect our emails or something? And, I had 54/60 points as far as I calculated, to give the hopefuls an idea of what score got me in for the essay.

Can't wait to hear how it goes for all of us - may the force be with us :)!
