Applicants to Portland area schools

U.S.A. Oregon

Published

Greetings fellow future nurses! I just mailed my application packets for Mt. Hood CC, Clackamas CC, and Portland CC today and excited to be done with them. I have my proctored essay for OHSU this Wednesday and am a little worried because I have NO idea what is going to be asked. I haven't been able to get any feedback on what is on any of the essays. I am also applying to Chemeketa but am probable wasting my time as I am missing 2 of the pre-recs required there that aren't required at the OCNE schools. Well, the worst they can say is no, right?

Anyway, the Oregon Nursing Programs sections has been a little dead lately so I was hoping to spark some dialogue. This is my first year applying and I'm already getting a little stressed. I kind of have a lot riding on getting in somewhere next fall. My fiance and I are kind of planning on it. I'm hoping that doesn't backfire! How's it going with everyone?

PCC waitlisters:

I was #33 on the waitlist and just received a phone call this morning offering me a spot in the nursing program. I just wanted to let all of you know that I declined and the next person in line should be receiving a call soon! :)

Got accepted into Linfield's BSN program on Friday! Beyond excited!

Congratulations, smallfry2!! It's pretty nerve-wracking being on the waitlist at this point of the notifications... but oh man, does it feel great to get the call!

Congrats again and enjoy Linfield!

Wow Missmichelle, you were 33 on the wait list for PCC and I was 22 on the wait list, but I didn't get called until just now today, the 19th. I turned them down since I got a spot at CCC, but funny how they aren't going in numerical order.

Advice needed please. Im on the PCC wait list #61. I'm enrolled in microbiology and math 111, this quarter. The only reason I'm taking math 111 is to give myself the chance to apply for the George Fox program in case I don't get into PCC. I am also planning to apply to linfield this summer, but with 2/3 of my A&P classes receiving B's, a B in bio 112, and 2/3 of my chem classes are B's, I'm worried my chances aren't great. All the rest of my classes are A's. I am trying to decide if I should take the math. Has anyone heard about the program at George fox? I have 4 kids I'd love to spend more time with this summer if I really don't need the math class. Any thoughts would be helpful.

Share13... If you are planning on taking Statistics (or a higher level math class like Calculus) in the future then you will need to take MTH 111. I know OHSU wants you to take a Stat class, but I am not sure about the George Fox or Linfield. Good luck.

Thanks osuchris I actually already took statistics and received an A. I tested into math 111 which made me exempt from taking it for the ocne program. I just don't know if I should take it if I don't need it.

share13, if I were you, I'd call George Fox and see if your statistics credits will meet the math requirement. If you've taken a math course higher than their minimum requirement and it transfers to the school you want to go to, usually that is satisfactory and they won't require you to take MTH111.

It's likely you don't need it if you've already taken stats.

Offered a spot (and accepted) at MHCC, joining the fall term cohort! :w00t:

Emmyers,

That is great news. You took a chance, and look how well it worked out. I'm so excited for you.

Im wondering how many people are settled on the schools they were accepted to or if there is still some switching around going on. I am still waiting to see if people deny there spot at Clackamas since its my only hope this year. Anyone know any information they got at orientation or elsewhere?
