Accelerated A/P class at PCC???

U.S.A. Oregon

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone might help me out. I have heard rumors about an accelerated A/P class that doesn't take 3 terms to complete, but can't find any information about it. I thought it was available through PCC... but, perhaps it's one of the other community colleges in the Portland area. Can anyone help enlighten me on the subject? I'd really like to get this taken care of in less than three terms.

Thanks!

PCC used to offer an intensive A & P series over the summer that covered all three courses: Human Anatomy & Physiology I, II, and III, BI231, 232, 233. It was brutal. Five days a week, a "final" or "midterm" every Friday. It was impossible to actually learn the material unless you had a photographic memory. I had a friend who took one of the series and then decided it was too much stress. I looked at the summer schedule and didn't see anything like that, but if you want to be sure, I'd call the registrars office and ask.

Thanks for the info... yeah, I didn't see it listed, either. You're absolutely right, though...that sounds totally brutal.

Clackamas Community College also offers an accelerated A&P, usually taught by Dr. Kop. Similar schedule, but you are done in a summer. The people I ran into that took it were pretty bright.

Ah... thank you. I had checked their course offerings, but it's not listed and they don't have their summer catalog available, yet.

Look for Professor Kop in the faculty section. Email/call and see if he will be teaching it this summer.

Thank you! I contacted him and he is not teaching it this summer, but perhaps someone else will.

Anyway, based on the info. I've received about it, I've decided not to pursue it. I have four children and they will be out of school during the summer and I've decided that I'm not willing to live, eat, & breath A/P and ignore my kids. I'm going to try to take A/P I, Microbiology, and Nutrition. That'll keep me plenty busy.

Which campus are you going to? If it is PCC Take it with Mirkes. She is he best teacher I have ever had. Her students loved her so much they got together and bought her a nintendo wii and a wii fit as a gift. She has outlines made up that you fill out during lecture and she tests directly off those.

Wow! That is great to know and VERY tempting. I live right by PCC Rock Creek... Mirkes teaches at the Cascade campus, but that's a pretty great recommendation and I may just be willing to make the drive if I don't hear any great reviews about the RC instructors!

I would reccomend her. I know that she comes from out that way too. Maybe she can tell you a short cut. When I took her class I had already taken it and not done well. I had started to get discouraged but she helped me find the best way to study for these types of classes.
