Portland hospital reviews

Hi there:

I am an OR nurse and I am planning on moving to Portland. I realize that sometimes people do not want to leave thier opinions about their hospital in an open post. So, I am requesting that you PM or email me what you really think about the hospital you work in (whether it is in the OR or not).

Thank you so much!

I am not sure whether it is good news or bad that I have not heard from anyone re: this. There is that old saying "no news is good news"...

I have worked for Providence since first moving to Portland 2 years ago. I have been very happy there I highly recommend them as a place of employment. Let me know if you have any specific questions.

I work at OHSU and love the client population. We serve largely disenfranchised populations and it is always a challenge with multiple languages and cultures. The residents are usually good to work with and give as well as receive new information often. The benefits are good but all of the Portland Oregon hospitals seem to remain very competitive. I also worked for Good Samaritan and loved the nursing staff.

I've worked for the Portland VA Medical Center for 1 year and really like the patient population, coworkers, management, etc.

There is good and bad in all hospitals...If it was me I would be looking into location, location, location--as traffic can be a hassle in Portland just like every other larger city. If you plan on working OR look into what type of surgeries is the hospital known for, is it a teaching hospital with interns all over the place? Does the MAX drop off there so I don't have to worry about parking (or pay for it like some hospitals)? Check websites for benefits and ask around (just like you are doing). My only worry is that you speak with someone that is unhappy in their job and gives the whole hospital a bad recommendation when it may be the best option for you.

Good luck and welcome to the beautiful NW!!!
