Newbie to this forum

Hello everyone...I'll keep this short. I'm a 29yo fem. who's trying to go back to nursing school. I live in Portland Oregon and I'm very interested in hospitals that pay your way and then you pay them back by working at their hospital. Anyone know much about this?

I know that the Marquis companies will pay for your CNA...but in Oregon I have not seen hospitals paying for the RN portion. Some will pay for portions of your degree after you've graduated, and I know that Washington has a special scholarship which involves a committment to work in Washington for a number of years and they pay for portions of your degree after the fact...I hope this helps! I know other states do offer very good hospital-based scholarships (with the committment to work for the hospital for a number of years after graduation), but have not seen it yet in Oregon.

If it does exist, I'd like to know about it too.

See the link above to the University of Portland's website. Each year Providence Health & Services offers a number of scholarships to the University of Portland that covers tuition for your BSN in return of a 3-year work commitment. A couple of us on this forum (myself included) are Providence Scholars. It is a wonderful program!

Hi, I go to Linfield and there is a program through Legacy Health Systems where you can apply for tuition repayment if you are hired and sign a contract for a certain amount of time. I think they pay $8000 for the first year. Also, if you work at OHSU as an employee of any kind and get into their nursing program you can get a discounted tuition price.

Hope this helps!
