New Grad wants to work in Hem/Onc/BMT

I will graduate with my BSN in May, and I have my heart set on moving to Portland. Please don't try to discourage me -- I know all about the rain and all that stuff. I spent this past summer working as an extern at the Mayo Clinic in the Hem/Onc/BMT unit and I love it. That's what I want to do after I graduate. I am looking for new grad programs in Portland that will hire me in that specialty. Any thoughts?

Thanks so much!!

BBQ -

Would never discourage you from Portland, it's an awesome place. One of the places I would look is at the Legacy Health System website. There are 5 hospitals in the Legacy system, and they hire new grads through the Nurse Internship program. Applications are collected twice a year, usually in fall and spring. There are frequently areas in oncology offered through this program. (I personally got a job in onology this way, and a few of my classmates were able to get into oncology units as well.)

Good luck!!!
