I want to move to Portland

I will be graduating in may of 2007 as an RN in Virginia and Im dying to move to Portland. After reading this forum it seems like its not that easy to get a job in Portland as a new grad. Im currently a PCA on a neurosurgery floor at the UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville and I will have one year of experience doing that when I graduate. Im pretty much guaranteed a job there when I finish. So what do you think I should do? Should I stay here and get some experience at a guaranteed job or risk it and try to get a job in Portland where Im dying to move to? Also, whats the least amount of experience I should get if I decide to stay in Virginia for a little bit? The med/surg orientation period lasts about 4 months at UVA. I was hoping six months worth of experience would qualify me as no longer being a "new grad."
Thanks,
Mark
