Has anyone attended the online LP to RN program at Lower Columbia College?

I am enrolled and start in just a couple of weeks. You have to have worked 1000 hours as a LPN in order to apply for a spot. It is distance learning for the most part, but you have to go to Longview for about 9 weeks in the late spring and all of summer quarter for clinicals. Hope this helps. Good Luck to you.

They outline quite clearly what they require for acceptance into the program. My friend A had all her requirements and got her spot right away, but another LPN I work w/ and I needed to take some courses before we were accepted. I suggest you get all the paperwork together and send it in, they will need an official copy of transcripts and let you know if any classes are needed prior to your acceptance and give you the deadline. Pretty easy to communicate w/ but @ times it is kinda hurry up and wait as far as the "am I in or not". Good news is: once you have applied, yourspot in the program is reserved for you as long as you complete any neeeded pre req's( I needed Math and Soc, which I took @ a different on-line college) before the deadline.
I am going for orientation on 09-22-08 (mandatory) in Longview, where they will outline things like the course management sys(ANGEL) and the syllabi, so hopefully I will have a little better understanding of how this is going to work. When do you plan on applying? they have a part time and full time option both with the same clinical rotation in spring/ summer. Part time takes 1.5 years and FT is one year. i suggest you look @ the programs required chem andMicro, and complete them while you are finishing up your hours. You can always supply proof of completion after applying, but I think you have to have worked the 1000 hrs in order to enroll. The ladies @ the college are pretty laid back and will help you. Is Lower Columbia College the only LPN to RN program in the area? I know this thread is specifically about online, but does anyone know any other LPN to RN programs?? Are they called "bridge" programs??

Most colleges that offer a full nursing program will allow a LPN to "bridge" into the program as long as the requirements are met and there is room. I know my LPN summer clinicals we had at least two who had to go through clinicals with us to bridge into the RN program. Check yur local colleges and see what works for your need. Good luck

I am an African American and I heard some unsettling things about the town of Longview. Honestly, should I be concerned. They have a wonderful LPN to RN program online and I really want to apply.

I don't live there, but haven't heard a lot about racist activity. If you do the onlie option, you do not have to go to Longview for morse than a few weeks if you choose to do clinicals in one of the other offered cities such as Portland, Vancouver, or Olympia.
