I have been around Legacy quite a bit throughout my life. Was born there, been hospitlized in various areas several times.
Im pretty sure they have the largest ER in the state and the Emmanuel hospital is the most used, largest hospital in the state.

Anyway, in my experience, they have awesome facilitys and great staff.

What area of are you looking for work in??

Thanks for the information. Position not for me but for a friend. Is interviewing for a non-nsg mgr position but their recruitment process is so slow.

I worked for Legacy Health System. Don't work there if you have
1. Nursing Ethics
2. Professional Ethics
3. Moral Standards
4 Have not been divorced at least 2 times at the minimum.
5. Are not a Gossip
6. Don't want to be turned into the Oregon or Washington State Baord of Nursing /related to;; a Supervisor retaliating against you for turning them in for sexual harassment.
7. And lucky number seven do not work for them if you plan on having successful nursing career. They have no nursing leadership. No Nursing Union, and a Employee Relations Office that makes Jeffery Domer look like an Angel.
Good Luck.

Wow!

I smell a very specific story that may not show the whole picture of a system that incorporates 5 hospitals and hundreds of nurses.

The fact that Legacy is the only non-union house in the city is a plus in my opinion, and they are quick to match the salary increases that the unions in other hospitals negotiate

I am quite happy at Legacy, and I do not resemble the nurse that you describe

I hope that you are happier where you are now

I have worked for legacy mt hood medical centre for 1 and a half yrs as a hospital technician - sounds better (cna) and it was hell. when the ward was full with 34 pts or if it was down to 15 pts , they would still use only one CNA . I end up doing vital signs begining of the shift , q4 vitals and end of shift vitals plus surgery pts sometimes it was almost close to 100 vital signs per shift plus other running around. It was hell and i just worked out of that hospital at 2am and said good bye.

I loved working for Legacy. Would go back in a heartbeat if I was still in that area.

Walking out of any position at 2 am shows a lack of ethics and respect for your patients, regardless of the postion that you hold or the problems that you have with the position.

Lately RNs at Legacy are frustrated by being called off way too often and vacation pay/paid leave being usurped in the process. You see, at Legacy, vacation pay is the same as sick leave pay as is the same as paid leave pay, so you have accounts nonexistent, that usually would be set aside for vacation. Census is down and those with mortgages are grumbling. I for one am looking for part-time work outside of Legacy.

Don't get me wrong, my coworkers and managers are fine. I know that other institutions, OHSU for one has laid off several RNs. I am grateful to be employed. Taxes are high here in Oregon and it is difficult to save any money. Thankfully the Mayor, who loves to think of ways to tax us, has recently been caught in a lie and will be probably resign. Hopefully a more fiscally responsible Mayor will replace him!
