What do you do with the bone cement vials after opening them?

  1. 0
We were talking today about the practice of putting the glass bone cement vials into a empty saline or water bottle and closing it up to avoid the 'fumes' permeating the room. In our discussion the ? was asked is this safe? Could there be a gas build up or small explosion/popping of the bottle? Any thoughts~~

    Thank you

I'm guessing you are talking about after it's been used. If you do that, you run the risk of it being tossed out with regular trash. It has to go in the sharps box. The way I see it, you are going to have fumes regardless so why bother?

When you are finished with the vials, put them into a small basin/bowl and hand it to your circulator. The circ should then dispose of the vials in the sharps box, just as aubgurl mentioned.
