Re: What do you like about Perioperative nursing?
To me a better question would be - What's not to like about Perioperative Nursing?
I have worked in just about every phase of nursing, but when I got to the OR, I knew I had found my niche. There is a special relationship between co-workers in the OR. The "team" approach nurtures these relationships. There is a closer relationship between the OR staff and the surgeons.
The fact that you care for one patient at a time allows you to truly "advocate" for your patients. It is your responsibility to be the
voice of your patient while they are under anesthesia.
I love the OR and wouldn't work anywhere else.
