What cases require an internal vaginal prep? Hysterectomy, oopherectomy, what else?

Usually it is a surgeon preference unless a D&C and still if it is a missed AB I still ask about an internal prep.

I ask on all GYN cases...and usually the answer is yes.

Urology cases where the female is in lithotomy position get a vag prep.

No, I think they mean cystocele/rectocele/bladder suspension surgeries. Like Monarc, Perigee, ProLift, etc... Our urologist does the procedure, but of course we prep the vagina.

We do internal vaginal preps on hemorrhoidectomies also.

We'll do vag preps on anything that would involve the vagina.
This would include TAH's, Vag.Hysters, LAVH, and of course D&C, etc.
I also do vag preps on Cysto's, but not hemorrhoids, and like that.
