Vaginal preps

  1. 0 We have an outdated policy regarding vaginal preps and I have been asked to help update it. The prep part obviously doesn't change but the prep solutions have. What does your facility use to prep a patient with a betadine allergy? Right now we use chlorhexidine against policy because there is nothing else to use. However, it's says on the bottle not to so obviously that's a problem! Thanks.

I'm pretty sure this isn't the place to come for evidenced base practice to update a policy.

I'm just asking what other facilities use. Obviously, I am not using this to change a policy

I think having an idea of what other facilities do use per their policies will give the OP some ideas of what he/she can then research to be used to update their policy.

Baby shampoo diluted with water or NS.. Many OB-GYNs request it for betadine allergy.
