Talk to me about cysto

  1. 0
Its been a while since I have done cysto.

How many do you do in a day?
How many nurses in the room?
Mostly done under local? If not, do you have an anesthetist? RNs wouldn't do any sedation as they sometimes do in endoscopy units, correct?

How long are patients monitored after? Do they go straight back to day surgery?
    Do they have IV's?

I think most of these questions will have to be answered by your facility.

Each facility is going to be different. You would find the answer by talking to either the urology supervisor if there is one, the nurse manager, or a charge nurse.

It depends on the facility. When I worked at a private hospital, we did roughly 5 in a day with one cysto suite. In a teaching institution, the number increased to about 10 a day using 3 suites.

How many nurses in the room?
One nurse, one tech, and an anesthesia provider

Again, it depends on the facility.

They should ALWAYS have an IV.

I was wondering how OTHER facilities do it. Of course it varies by facility.

We do not start IVs on cysto patients.
