Can anyone give me some insight on the tasks/responsibilities of a preop nurse? Pros/cons?

While I've never worked pre-op, I did spend some time there in orientation. Pre-op nurses admit the patient for surgery, start the IV, draw any needed labs, verify history, double check meds and verify certain ones were stopped in an appropriate timeframe, and make sure consents are complete and signed (surgical consent, anesthesia consent, blood consent).
Our pre-op is also secondary recovery. If an OP, once the patient is awake in PACI, they go to secondary recovery to go over discharge instructions, dc IVs, and get discharged.
