OR Fires & Drills

  1. 0 Hello to all you smart, experienced OR nurses!

I have a quick question. I have been given the job of setting up an OR fire drill, and working on our Surgical Fire P&P's.

I have access to AORN's fire safety stuff, but wondered if anyone else had any tips or info to add, especially in the area of conducting drills.

We already have things in place, but it's been some time since our last drill.

    Thanks in advance.

    Mike

Keeping the floor dry, so that when there's such an emergency, no one slips or falls in water.

(Reason i suggested it is that my dept. learned that one the hard way 10 years ago when one of the rooms had a real fire, when one of the nurses was pushing a stretcher with a pt., slipped and fell from water that was in the floor out from the sinks. Never did return back to work after that, d/t back problems.)
