- Aug 30, '12 by Sweet_Wild_RoseOur OR assistants are pt care assistants- help position, help with room turnover, do stocking. The only benefit I could see is that the manager would already know you and your work ethic. Not much pt care involved, and definitely no scrubbing.CTORnurse likes this.

I'm looking for something more in the actual OR for experience. Our OR assistants are pt care assistants- help position, help with room turnover, do stocking. - Aug 30, '12 by Sweet_Wild_RoseYou could look into hospitals that train their own anesthesia techs. Many of our ORAs have transitioned into the role of anesthesia techs, and all were trained in house. They are allowed to insert IVs under direct supervision of the anesthesia provider, assist with central line insertion and arterial line insertion, and generally help with other aspects of anesthesia care. More hands on than ORAs, although there isn't a higher pay scale where I work.
