Nursing Student question
- 0Oct 9, '02 by SunnieHi, I'm currently doing my pre-req's right now. I was wondering what exactly an OR nurse does. I know you assist the surgeon but I'm wondering if someone could give me more detail, like do you get to do anything with the surgery itself or if your just there to monitor the patient and be there if the surgeon needs anything.
I appreciate any information.

The surgeon in turn needs the help of an experienced OR nurse to help him. I have helped from major vascular to ortho to general surgeries. I feel I can give them the best help this side of another surgeon. The only thing I can't do legally is tie suture, I do everything else. Mike
