Masks in smoky cases

Hi guys,

I'm in Periop 101 at my local magnet hospital. We were talking the other day about cases that are really smoky, and how that smoke contains small particles of well...patient! We use smoke evacuators with the Bovies for these cases but there still can be a lot of smoke. Our educators suggested wearing a laser mask for these cases to filter out all those particles, but I don't see any of the nurses I've worked with doing that. What is the practice at your hospitals?
