    Hi,

    I'm currently at Western Governors University trying to complete my BSN. 2 more papers to go and time is running out.
    I need to be in touch with a real, practicing, OR nurse to complete one of my papers for evidence based practice class.
    I need to identify a current hospital policy that needs to be changed, determine how the hospital policy evolved in the first place, and gather evidence to support changing the policy.
    The problem is that I don't have a contact with an OR nurse and I'm wondering if someone can help me offline?

    To me after 35 years of OR nursing, the one item that seems to change more than I like is the sterility of wrapped goods. I wrote a policy many years ago based on AORNs recommendation of the sterility of wrapped items such as instruments. The feeling then was as long as there were no breaks in the package, or had been dropped, or gotten wet then it was considered still sterile until opened. This was an event related policy. This might be something you could look into. Good luck
