One of our general surgeons has SEVERE problems with gloves, scrubbing, etc. and now is experience cracking/cuts/peeling like I've never seen before......even to the point now where we question to patient safety as well as his own. Presently has been using the Biogel Super Sensitive gloves. Also has tried: mineral oil, bacitracin, cloth gloves under, etc, etc. He is seeing a dermatologist and ?allergist? I believe.

Any suggestions or ideas??? Thank you in advance.

Biogel has latex. Try latex free.

Eudermics was an item we used for one of our surgeons, but they are no longer being made. You have to try different ones to find one he can use because what works with one surgeon might not work with yours. Trial and error!

He could see a dermatologist for environmental allergy screening -

testing can be done not just for latex, but for a host of other dermal irritants....

i had the same thing happen -

I am not allergic to latex at all -

and it was not the gloves,

For me it is actually particular alcohols -

Purell, some scrubs...

I can now survive using Avagard and handwashing alone - no Purell or other scrub options.

Good luck to him!

Each night before sleep I coat my hands with either Nutrashield lotion or shea butter.

Specializes in Only the O.R. and proud of it!.

I agree with trying powder free, latex free gloves
