do u all shave the site where u put a diathermy pad?. Have any of u seen a diathermy burn?. I have attended two courses on diathermy application and have seen slides on patients burnt by an incorrectly applied, faulty, or wet pad. I have never seen it first hand, thank god. I know there are built in safety features to ensure the machine wont work if the pad in faulty. Also if a patient has a metal implant our teaching is we put the pad at least 30cm away from the implant. Is that your policy?
