Alternative Site Marking for patients

Per Joint Commission regarding site marking of a procedural site; 'a defined alternative process for patients who refuse site marking or who cannot easily be marked under the following conditions...' Does anyone have a current alternative process for site marking for a patient by a Physician that is SUCCESSFUL? If so, please provide your facility's procedure and any associated items that may need to be purchased (ie. armbands, etc).
Thanks
Lisa

Armband with patient sticker, doc must fill out site, laterality if app., date, intials, and must put the band on. Pre-op nurses make sure the band is on the chart. OR nurses must remove before patient gets to PACU.

We have the armbands too. I've only had to use them a couple of times, but so far they worked well when needed.
