Wayne State advice??

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi Guys!

I recently got accepted into Wayne States Nursing Fall 2014 nursing program!(: I am a transfer student from Schoolcraft college and know nothing about wayne state. Anyone have any advice or recommendations on what I should/ shouldn't do? Where to go and where to stay away from? Any teachers that they HIGHLY recommend for the nursing curriculum/ clinicals?? I always find myself getting stuck with the most difficult, unprofessional teachers, so some suggestions on teachers would be great and really appreciated! I also got accepted into the honors program, do you think I should do it as a nursing student? How do you feel about the nursing program/ honors program?

Thank you so much!!(:

I would be happy to PM you! Are you doing traditional or CD2? If you're doing traditional, I would probably do honors and join student council along with SNA :)

I am doing traditional! The plan is to join the organizations they have as well as do the honors program. I recently talked to a honors advisor and decided to go with the honors program. She helped clarify what the program actually consisted of and what was expected of me as a honors student. Did you do the traditional program as well?

Hi Annie!

Im sorry, I tried to private message you but it got deleted because it says I don't have enough topics to private message :( Pretty bummed out I typed out this huge message and it got deleted! But its okay!(:

But thank you for "PM"ing me lol. I am a transfer student from Schoolcraft College and don't know much about WSU, I had so many questions when I got accepted. Like scrub colors, shoe color, if we needed a steth and what color it had to be, clinicals, and so much more! You answered sooo many of my questions, thanks again!!

In regards to the specifics, for shoes do you recommend the Dansko professionals? I heard mix reviews on them and wanted to see how you felt. Also do you recommend buying scrubs from place WSU gets them from? Because I found many great website with great deals (like $5 for pants!). Does the jacket have to be the same color as the scrubs, or can I get them in white? The color for the scrubs is like a hunter green, correct? Thank you for telling me the name of the steth! I have no idea which is a good brand to buy.

Im not sure if you too NUR 2995, but if so do you recommend any teachers? Im stuck between two: Walker and Zugcic.

Lastly, do you recommend buying a parking pass? Or is there some where near by the CON that I can park (like a parking structure or parking lot)?

Sorry for all of the questions! Ive been trying to find someone who can help answer my questions. On alnurses it seemed like all the posts where from a few years ago and not many where from WSU.

Thank you soooo much for all of your help!

Hi i was reading some of your posts and couldn't help but notice you say honors program?

What kind of program is that? Is it a shorter amount than the original three years traditional program? Because I just got accepted to the Wayne state this fall as well!

Thanks!

Hi Dayanan17!

Congratulations on being accepted!(: Thats exciting news!! The honors program is something that you get invited too. If you qualify for the program they send you an email and it is also up on your admissions page. Unfortunately no, it doesn't shorten the 3 year program, it is in addition to the 3 year program. How it works is that you pick your classes for the semester and then you pick which class you want to be honors and you basically tell the professor (has to be a full time teacher) that this is your honors class. From what I understood the professor basically gives you extra work (either extra homework, project or essays). And in the end you graduate with the a high honors.

And congrats on the honors program!! That's amazing!! Good luck :) I'm so excited for orientation and so glad that I wasn't the only one not receiving a letter from them yet lol!
