For prospective applicants for the 2017 year in the program. Being as I am currently wait listed in the 2016 year due to a very late application, there is a high probability I would have to apply again come November 1st 2016 for the following year acceptance.

November 1st, 2016 is the priority application deadline for the 2017 year. All materials (GRE, official transcripts, application payment, letters of recommendation, statement of intent) must have been submitted by this date.

Letters of acceptance for August 2016 orientation and start were sent out the first week of February 2016. Wait listed recipients received their wait list offer in an around the first week of March 2016 with the caveat that seats may open well into late July.

Thanks! Has anyone heard about amount of spots they have? I was told if you do your clinicals in Nashville there is a lesser chance of getting accepted.

There are fewer slots for local students as there are limited local clinical placements. The amount of spots vary with specialties.

Does anyone know if you do the direct entry for non-nursing students pathway-- can you attend the first year on campus, and then relocate the second year to do your specialty distant/online in your home state? Also, who all is going to the open house?! I'm excited to go! I've never visited the school before.

I went to the open house last year and will def be going again this year! The campus (esp in fall) is beautiful.

When you are completing your application you are asked if you want to do your second year in the middle tn area or if you want to complete it outside the area. The state you plan on completing the program in has to be in the compact, and you still return to Vanderbilt I believe around once a month.

oh okay, I would be okay with either option. I currently live in NC and would love to be able to come back here after the first year. I love Nashville, but this is my home!

Have you guys already taken your GRE?

Thanks for that information! What do you mean by the state has to be in the compact?

I took the GRE last year and am taking it again in Sept in hopes of improving my scores. Is anyone else taking it?

The nursing compact is an "agreement" between certain states that allow nurses to practice across the state lines without having to apply for a new licensure in that state. I do not know if the state you go to for the second year has to be in the compact since generally it is paying a fee and possibly taking a class when applying in a new state.

I cant wait for the open house!

When is the next open house? Their website still says March 2016.

I'm done with the GRE (thankfully), but I also took it several times. Hang in there!

I was absolutely not prepared for the GRE last year so I am thankful I had time to get ready this application cycle. I cant wait to be in the "finished GRE forever" boat with you!

Last year the open house was in mid Oct and the registration for it opened beginning/middle of sept. Hope its the same this year Im so excited!

I took it already, but am not very happy with my score. I don't think I'm going to retake it though.... ahhhh fingers crossed! It technically fits within the "recommended" but I'm sure we'd all rather not be just average haha. Hopefully it doesn't count against me!

When I emailed them, they said the open house will be oct. 15th this year. Perfect time for fall! I haven't taken my GRE yet. I had it scheduled for this Friday, but I have been so busy I have not had any time to study, so I'm rescheduling it for the end of September. I hope it doesn't take too long to get my scores back. I really want to do well on it because my GPA right now is a 3.54-- it was a 3.9, but I did poorly in Chem 102 and I'm having to retake it this semester for a grade replacement. I'm nervous about them seeing that grade. I plan on sending my updating transcripts in December, but I'm afraid it may be too late for them to see it. IDK, I could just be freaking out for no reason, haha.

Hi everyone! I will be applying for Fall 2017 as well as a direct-entry student.

Does anyone know how heavily they weigh GPA? I realize that they have a holistic review process but I have also been told that they (more so than other schools) place great emphasis on GPA and GRE scores. I have a 3.3 (average accepted is 3.4-3.6) GPA from undergrad with mostly As in the last two years, and a 4.0 GPA in prerequisites. My GRE is well above their recommended scores (165V 159Q) and I have great full time research experience in my area of interest, but I am not sure if my undergrad GPA will rule me out. Worth noting I am applying to the PMHNP program for students with no nursing background
