Vanderbilt MSN 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I haven't seen a thread yet for 2016 hopefuls, so I thought I'd start one. After much research and changing my mind back and forth, I decided to go for the . I would be direct entry as I already have my BSN. I finally decided on Pediatric Primary Care. I'm just worried about getting a job after graduation as I'm not really seeing much in the way of openings in the Nashville area--which is where I live.

I may be applying for Vanderbilt's FNP program. I am for sure applying for UAHs program. I still have to take the GRE for so that is why I am unsure about them. Good Luck!

I'm scared about the GRE, but I'm jumping all in. I went ahead and already scheduled and paid for my test date. I have a little over 90 days to study. The next open house is October 3rd. I'll be there.

I have been to their open house. Very informative and helpful. If you are applying for August 2016 then they want the application as early as possible.

They told me if I can have it complete and turned in Sept 1 this year, then my chances of being accepted are much higher than if I wait to submit my application later on.

That gives me a month and a half to study and take the GRE. A mid August test score would be sent to the school by Sept 1.

Is anyone else applying?

I'm applying for the CNM/FNP dual degree program for Fall 2016! Vanderbilt is my #1 so fingers crossed!! Anybody have any information about what scores/GPA they look for?

GPA average is around 3.5. GRE is a around 307 4.5 writing is what they told me a few months ago

I registered online for the open house October 3rd and already have the day off work. I'm ready!

Hey everyone!

I'm a current FNP prespecialty student and I'd be happy to answer any questions if I can. I was all over this site last year while waiting to hear back from so I totally understand the anxiety that comes along with applying. I may not reply immediately but I'll check back every now and then. Good luck on your applications!

Thank you so much for your input! Around when do you start receiving news about acceptance?

I received my acceptance around the middle of December and I had applied by the November deadline for early decision. Keep in mind that was just for prespecialty FNP. I think the other specialties are on different schedules. Also, things might be different whether you are going in with as ASN, BSN, or doing the presepecialty route (non-nursing bachelor's degree) like me.

Take a look in last year's MSN thread. A bunch of people from peds, psych, acnp, & gero were on there talking about the application process too.

Hi all,

I applied to Vanderbilt last year well after the priority deadline, and they immediately let me know that the program I applyied to was full. I decided to turn down other programs in order to apply to Vanderbilt again, since it's my top choice program. I'm preparing my application again for the priority deadline--last year the deadline was Oct. 1, but this year it appears to be Nov. 1. Can anyone confirm?
