UCLA MECN 2016

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey there, I am planning on applying to the UCLA MECN 2016 program and was wondering if anyone else out there was applying as well. Just curious about other applicants and hoping to go through this application process with some other people! Would love any feedback. Thanks :)

Hello! I'm applying for Fall 2016 as well! App is opening soon I'm getting nervous :nailbiting:

Hello! I'm applying as well. I just attended the last info session and was really impressed by what I heard. The students who spoke were all very enthusiastic about their experiences and it seems as if graduates are finding good jobs. Rhonda, the main individual in charge of admissions, was very nice and helpful. I'm a UCLA alum, so I'm already a little partial, but I think it's a great program. Good luck to you and to all who are applying!

Hey All,

my name is Karina! I am also applying to UCLA MECN program! This is the top school that I want to attend next fall. I will be attending the information session later this August and hopefully by then I will have my statement of purpose read by a few of my professors!!! í ½í¸í ½í¸í ½í¸í ½í¸ good luck to everyone!!!

Does anyone know when the application for this program opens up? (asking for a friend). Thanks and good luck to everyone applying!

I heard mid September

Yeah it's suppose to be in September after Labor weekend. :)

Have you guys completed all your pre-reqs. If so what were your grades? Have you started working on your Statement of Purpose? Who is going to the informational on the 15th? Just Curious.

I'm applying too! I'm scared of how competitive this program is, but I'm giving it a shot.

Thanks to everyone who got back to me! I just saw these comments now. I thought the website would've notified me via email when someone commented so I apologize for the delay.

I have completed all but one pre-req. Right now my grades are two A-, and one B+ (for the science pre-reqs). The other ones like psychology and statistics are mostly A's and B's. I have one C+ in stats though :( I have been talking with one of the counselors and he said that one C+ shouldn't hurt my application, but I am still unsure. I also have some internship experience in a psychiatry clinic, and I am currently working at McLean Hospital, a psychiatric hospital. I have a short-term lab position on my resume, but I am gonna try to get some volunteer experience and/or lab experience before applying as well to beef up my application. I am so nervous my experience and grades aren't going to be enough.

I am from Boston and I am actually flying in next week to meet with some advisers and discuss my application. I couldn't make it on one of the info session days which I was bummed about but I am making it work nonetheless.

How about you guys!

I am currently taking Epidemiology and Physiology. Next semester I plan to finish my pre reqs with Organic Chem and Micro. I will have my public health BA in spring when I graduate. I have experience in children's hospital, and I am currently a Certified Nursing assistant with Alzheimer's and dementia. I have worked with all ages as well. I currently also work with the county with Children Protective Services as well as Behavior Health Department. I believe I have a qualifying background. I have had some hardships causing me to get C in 2 golf my prereqs this past summer. I have been working on my statement of purpose. I'm very nervous. I hope this is for me because I really want it. I will be attending the informational session tomorrow.

I've started the application but I'm really nervous. The main problem I have is my BS, my GPA was quite low, however, when I met with admissions they encouraged me to apply. My Prerequisites are As, except for a C in statistics, which I'll take again. As for experience, I've been a LVN since 2011 and volunteered for the American Heart Association. I'm currently working on my personal statement and I'm really nervous. I'm applying to a few other schools, but UCLA is my first choice,
