Tidewater Community College 2013-2014 Nursing

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hey everyone, I would like to start a new thread for all the nursing students who got accepted into the Tidewater Community College Beazley School of Nursing 2013-2014. I will be starting in the August cohort and would like to meet some of my future class mates. If you are in another cohort, please add to the thread and we can all share information. Best of luck to everyone who will be nursing students this fall and spring!

All of my friends that are starting Sentara Nursing in January have purchased the Littman Classic II SE scope. By the way Barnes and Noble updated the online book list for 108 but I ordered everything on Amazon for a LOT less.

SipesMD did we get any info on what we need other than our books and uniforms? I know we need stethoscope, but are there any restrictions, such as color, and do you know of anything else we need? I know we also need an analog watch with a second hand.

I'm not sure exactly what else we need but I signed up for Camp Nightingale on January 11th and I think that will be very informative!!

Yes I did as well! I think you are right!

I am in cohort 3 and will be selling my textbooks after 108 ends in march. So, if anyone is interested, let me know.

I created a group on Facebook for everyone in cohort 4. Search "Tidewater Community College Nursing Cohort 4 2014"

Congrats to everyone! I have a question that I Been curious about.. I spoke to the counselor and she made it seem like its impossible to get in.. I know it's competitive and all.. Can you tell me what your prereq gpas were for those of you who got accepted recently? That would help me out a lot to get an idea..

I'm curious how was the hesi what score did you guys get? A range or anything would be nice! Thanks

It is not impossible to get in. I had all of my pre reqs except A&P 2 completed when I applied, with a pre req gpa 4.0, my cumulative gpa was a 3.8 I'm not sure which gpa they went by.

The HESI wasn't too bad. But my overall score dropped a lot because there is chemistry on it and I never took chemistry in my life so I pretty much bombed that section. I got a hesi review book and it helped with all other areas to brush up on. My overall score was a 79.71

I had 4.0 on all of the prerequisites and a 92.86 on the HESI but I have heard that people also got in with B's in Anatomy and HESI scores in the 70's. The school is very tight lipped about the selection process. Good luck to you!!

Frankie911 I sooooo know how you feel. I too was in your shoes last year. I applied for a cohort to start back in august last year and I was an alternate. Everyone tried to tell me how great that was since the program is so competitive however I felt horrible. Put it this way, they didn't say no and you didn't get that letter saying unfortunately you didn't get in so don't be discouraged. I wasn't called in as an alternate but a few people were ( one person was called the day before so be prepared). I went through the whole process of getting insurance and physical , went to orientation provided all paper work to get let down again. so what did I do, I applied again and I GOT IN !! That was the best feeling. To make it after all my hard work was wonderful. I am in the last week of clinical for 130 and will be starting med/surge after spring break ( Nur170) Gave my first injection which was awesome. DONT give up ! You can do it. I am a single mother of two and I work and go to school full time. Nothing is impossible. Best of luck and blessings to you . Please keep me posted. Feel free to inbox me if you have any personal questions :nurse:
