The Healthcare Ethics Class!

Students School Programs

Has anyone besides me found this class to be WAY more difficult & demanding than the others?

I am an A student and I flunked it. I FLUNKED IT!

Or rather, I chose to take an F in the class when I realized that, no matter how hard I worked, I wouldn't pass anyway.

There was something strange going on!

The harder I worked and the more time that I put into that class, the worse my grades got. My wife has taught at Regis and at DU. She reviewed my papers. She thought they were fine.

I don't know if that professor just didn't like me or what, but it really was something that I can't totally blame myself for (believe me, I tried).

Has anyone else had trouble?

If you are getting ready to take this class, BEWARE! Take this class in isolation and don't plan on doing anything else.

Specializes in ICU + Infection Prevention.

It is an attitude problem of the HCE department at Regis. They are not part of the School of Nursing, which cares about its students. HCE doesn't care and believes their class is the most important class in your academic career and therefor, it should be the hardest. They'll tell you as much, that they expect you to spend 30 hours a week on the 3 credit online class.

Do yourself a favor and take HCE at Rio Salado College. Regis counts the credit. It costs 1/3 the cost and the content is far more relevant to nursing. Regis's course is far more theory based than healthcare based. The rest of the Regis nursing program is awesome.

Whatever you do, don't take HCE at Regis from a professor named (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME - PLEASE DO NOT POST NAMES OF INSTRUCTORS PER TERMS OF SERVICE).

Wow, that sounds aweful. Thanks for the heads up and recommendation for the other college.

I don't see that course at Rio Salado College. Is it still offered there? Can you show me?

It is HCR210 Clinical Health Care Ethics at Rio Salado

Specializes in Adult Nurse Practitioner.

I guess I was pretty lucky. I got an A in the class. The instructor was a priest. His angle was on how health care choices affect patients and family. Once I was able to figure out how he viewed things, it was easier to do the papers. My only problem was on one paper and I never quite got it right, but managed to do well enough in the paper to get a 90!
