Sacramento City College ADN Spring 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Anyone get accepted to Sacramento City College's ADN for Spring 2018? I did and I haven't heard much of anything from them. I've emailed them a couple of times with no response yet.

I rescinded an acceptance to another school for this fall so I could go to SacCity in the Spring, and by this time frame we already had our information.

SacCity said we would get information this month, but I really need to know when orientation is going to be so I can scheduled it out. I heard orientation is multiple days, is this true?? I need to know what the hours are going to be for Spring 2018 so I can figure out how I'm going to get my kids taken care of--the website is not specific. Do we have to apply for the Spring so we can register? By what date do we need to complete physicals and vaccinations? If we have to make appointments with our own physicians, the time is now.

Any former Spring starters have information you care to share? Is there a place I can get a syllabus on the SCC website?

Yeah I only see the $31 fee too. I think that is the only fee that needs to be paid before the orientation (technically by 12/1).

I did enroll to the health stream courses but I haven't started yet. I'm not sure either if we have to do them before orientation or before the spring semester.

Oh thanks for the correction about the 407 class. I mean to say that.

I'm surprised that there is little activity in this thread.

Ya maybe our cohort hasn't heard of Allnurses, or it's just us two in the program haha

haha probably!

oh by the way, when you made your castle branch account. Did it placed you in the 2017 Fall ADN cohort? Do you know if the college have already updated their tracker? I know they sent an email not too long ago but I'm curious if they did something about it.

I checked now and it says it's for the spring 2018 but I'm sure they know to transfer those who got placed into the fall 2017 because we can't change it. I made my'n only a few days ago so it's updated for 2018

I am an idiot. I completed the wrong cpr course. So I have to wait until the December 22nd to complete the correct requirement.

Other than that (plus the online stuff), I'm done with the whole pre-clinical requirements.

Anyone else is done or close being done with their pre-clinical stuff?

And yes, I was able to enroll into the Nurse 407 class as well.

Do you know how many ppl applied? I am applying for Fall 2018 along with ARC, Sierra college, Sac state and a few others. Hopefully applying to multiple schools something will pan out. The lottery system worries me.

I have no clue.

For what it's worth, there are 30 available seats for the Nurse 407 class. Only three have enrolled into the class so far (including me). So, 27 available seats for the class are still open.

Yeah, the lottery system is hit or miss. I had to wait about a year or a year and a half to finally get in.

Castle branch didn't take your CPR? That sucks real bad. I just finished up everything aside from the online stuff

If you can get waitlisted then your golden, i didn't get into any program but waitlisted at sac city, 2 months later they call me out of the blue and I got my spot. Just apply to everywhere and keep applying!

if you have time CNA licenses can be done in in a few months and having that behind your belt will let you work in hospitals while you apply. Getting to know nurses and connections always helps.

They didn't accept it. So, I'm going to take the correct cpr class tomorrow morning.

Hopefully I will get my castle branch stuff done by tomorrow. One less headache.

Oh, did you attend today's orientation? I thought it was pretty straightforward and concise. I loved how we got our patches already!

It sounded like we have buy our books ASAP to begin with the pre semester readings already!

I hope all is well with you!

I actually have my CNA and HHA certificates. The only bad thing is that they are due to expire by the end of next year. Not sure if I want to renew them since I'm already in the nursing program working towards for the RN.

Ya it was pretty straight forward, I don't think it will be bad, as long as you dedicate a decent amount of hours of study there really isn't much you can't do is what i learned.

I was in the back middle, gray sweat shirt. Only dude in the center of the class haha. Im going to try to get into a hospital as a CNA permanate and hope that gets my foot in the door for an RN position.

I was pretty frustrated that the sac state merger is fall only. I was really banking on getting my BSN as quick as possible but now it could take two more years! Do you know of any RN-BSN programs we can do while in the program? Gotta do my research.

Lastly did you sign up for the nursing association thing ? I did but Idk how beneficial it will be aside from the 1 on 1 mentor. And we definitely need to create a study group this winter break to make sure we got all our stuff down. We need a good group to get us through the 4 semesters
