Hi guys! Just creating this thread for all of my fellow applicants for Mira Costa and Palomar College's 2018 Fall RN program(s). I figured we could talk TEAS and points and see where we stand among each other as well as past cohorts.

Hi Emma! I am looking around 79 points. Not sure if that will be enough. I scored an 84.7 on my TEAS, a 3.62 science gpa, around a 3.8 fixed set gpa, Spanish proficiency if they give it to me, volunteer work, and some life points! I'm so scared it won't be enough :(

Hey Whitney!!

I am worried about my points too! I have around 81-84ish. I have 5 points for volunteer experience and 5 for having my phlebotomist license. Idk what my GPAs came out to exactly but I know I got 25 points for my sciences and 13 points for my fixed set. I think I have 4-5 points for life experiences and 32 points for my TEAS.

Ahhhhhh I hope we make it girl!!! did you apply anywhere else?

MiraCosta I know I'm getting rejected from. The points there are crazy. I applied to MiraCosta, Grossmont, and Palomar as well as some schools in Orange County and near where I live in Calabasas. San Diego is my first choice. I want to move there so bad. Where else did you apply? You have good points! I pull points from every category minus CNA. I have my Associates as well.

I also applied for the Fall 2018 cohort with ~79 points. I received an 85 on my TEAS, 3.67 Science GPA, 3.2 Fixed GPA. 5 points for CNA as well as 5 points for 100+ hours of relevant experience as I work in a hospital. 3 points for fluency in a language. and 1-2 life experience points.

I applied to Riverside City College, Mira Costa and Palomar. Mira Costa would be my first choice I think. I'm so nervous!! I know 84 points is decent, but I'm just so worried it isn't enough. I've heard that Palomar isn't as competitive and that typically if you have 75+ points you have a really good shot of getting in - not sure how much truth there is to that statement though!! I've heard really good things about Grossmont's program! I hope you get into your first choice!!!!

Sounds like the 3 of us are all around the same point value! I hope this semester isn't too competitive and I hope our points are good enough! Did you apply anywhere else??

Hey Guys!

I'm sitting around 83-87 points depending on life experience points. I'm hoping i'll be competitive with that but I'm concerned because I just got a call today about my English prereq the course that i had listed (an advanced english course at an advisor suggestion) was not satisfactory and that I would have to supply my AP credit as soon as possible. But since I've taken that exam more than 4 years ago I can't rush ship it and they said it'll take up to twenty days to get there :no:. I've been in touch with mallory but I still don't know. I would really hope that if this was the difference between being accepted or not they'd grant me a conditional acceptance until my official report gets in.

Did anyone receive a confirmation email from palomar saying they received their application? I was reading previous threads and saw something about an email and now I'm freaking out I didn't get one ������

I haven't received a confirmation email either. When I turned in my app the woman said I would receive an acceptance/denial email sometime in April but she never mentioned a confirmation email :/

Hey! So i thought id just give a full outline of my application for anyone who's interested or might be in the future.

I have 10 points from a previous bachelor's degree.

5 points from relevant work experience/Current allied health certification (CNA)

20-25points from science GPA depending on whether or not my retakes were accepted.

13 points from the fixed set (B in Public Speaking/A in Psychology...math bypassed ENGl AP credit)

1-2 points for life experience (worked for last month of prereqs and personal/family matters)

1 point for documented proficiency in a foreign language

30 points for the teas

Totaling anywhere from 80-86 depending on how the committee scores it.

Hope this helps anyone as nervous as I am
