LVN to RN bridge program at College of Sequoias, Visalia

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi all,

It's been a long time coming, but I was FINALLY able to submit an application for the LVN-RN bridge program at COS in Visalia (the prerequisites took me years to complete) for the Spring 2018 program. Since it is based on point system, I was curious to know if there are any post RN students out there who completed the bridge program and have found it was easier to get in to than it would be compared to applying for the generic RN program? Is it more competitive? Less competitive? I calculated 69 points for my self-assessment test. Anyone out there who had around the same amount of points and got the call back of acceptance? COS, SJVC in Visalia, and FCC are the only three schools near me that have programs starting in Spring. I really don't want to wait to apply for Fall, so SJVC is my backup school.

Hi, I too have submitted an application and awaiting a letter. I have a good friend who was accepted into the program that began in August. She scored around 78 points and because they have a cohort of LVNs this time around she got in. I am hoping for the same result :) We should be hearing back soon, good luck to you.

Hi! I was wondering if you received and word back on the program?

Hi Jecell,

I too have applied and was scheduled to test but I may have to postpone till next year due to unfortunate personal reason. Please keep us posted. I live in the East Bay so I will have to move if I get accepted. Good luck to you and hope you get into the school that you want.

I'm so sorry, but I hope things are getting better for you! Good luck to you!

Nothing yet. Other people have gotten their letters, but for the traditional RN program. Have you gotten anything?

I haven't, when I called to ask they stated on or around November 1st. I am being hopeful, but it doesn't sound like they are doing another cohort this semester and are accepting on a space available basis. Have you heard any different? I have a friend in the current cohort and another in the traditional program and both stated its up in the air right now. Hopefully we hear some good news.

Oh, wow... I honestly thought schools had separate cohorts- one for traditional and one for bridge all the time. I wasn't 100% sure that it was based on available space, BUT when I did call, the lady I spoke with stated the same thing: On or around November 1st :/ She said they were trying to figure how many seats they would have...

Luckily, I also applied at SJVC as a back up. I used to think that because it was a for-profit school, you would just have to have the money to pay for it. Nope! You have to have a good GPA, pass their RN fundamentals pre-entrance exam with at least a Level 2 (they say it's not a pass/fail, but clearly, the better you score, the more likely you'll be picked). Then, you have to write an essay prior to the panel interview. There were hundreds of applicants and only 24 seats! Private schools are beginning to be just as competitive. :/

I know I was kind of bummed to hear the same. Let me know when you get your letter and ill do the same. I also applied to SJVC. I had my interview yesterday and I felt it went well but who knows. Good luck to you and who knows, maybe we will be classmates soon :)
