LA Southwest college Spring 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello Everyone,

I am starting this thread so we can help each other out on the application process and our status of applying la southwest, i am currently studying for the teas and applying to the program, feel free to share info !

I also applied to WCU and now I'm just waiting for my evaluation to be done with them. I am taking this last option because I did not get into any of the schools I applied to and I applied to a lot! I am an alternate for two schools but I can't take the chance of waiting around anymore. :/ it has been a very long journey applying more than once

I'm in the same boat. Also waiting for evaluation on my classes.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. I was able to transfer my pre- reqs as well. I actually began the process with them but I think I may back out and just wait a lil. I'm on a waitlist to potentially get into trade tech for Fall 2018. WCU do require that u take pre- reqs specific to their school and I'm at the point where after almost 3 years working towards pre-reqs for nursing, my brain doesn't want to work with anything that's not nursing related. The best thing about their program is that u earn a BSN in less than 3yrs if your transfer credits. So I figured I can wait one more semester before I take that step. If time is an issue for you then WCU is an option.

I think there's one class you have to do that's a pretty req for them. It's critical thinking but you can't do that class anywhere it's only Available for their school.

What occurs at the Application session? Is it to submit our application or do we have to stay for something?

I'm not from the LA county area.

They tell u general info about the program and u turn in your application to the program.

Did you end up getting in to WCU?

Thank you.

For a transfer student, do you know if transcripts have to be reviewed by the counselors at the school before applying to the nursing program?

Thank you.

If you're from the LACCD district then no. But if you are out I don't think so as long as they have the same course name and units. They make u fill out the application with all your classes and they just re check when u turn in all your transcripts.

So for the first part of the application, it is not necessary to bring transcripts? LACCD and outside? I read some where that it did but want to confirm with some one who has been there.

You bring everything to the first part. Because it needs to be evaluated. If you got transcripts out of the district you can send them in and have the dean evaluate it will take longer. Or you can go to a counselor and get them evaluated and then go to the session. If you are in the LACCD district you don't need official transcripts you can use printout unnoficial ones. I've been there, the second part of the application is due about a month later. It's an essay
