Hi everyone.

I'm an Associate degree RN and I'm currently going to CTU online for my BSN. I recently found out that the school BSN program is not accredited!!!!

I'm loosing my mind right now, because I really wanted to go to nurse practitioner school after.

Does anyone know if there are any NP schools out there that will accept a graduate from an uncredited BSN school?

Your options for educational advancement are limited with a BSN degree from an unaccredited school. If you hope to become a nurse practitioner, you could achieve this by earning a post-masters certification.

You'd need to first earn an MSN degree in nursing leadership or nursing education from a fully accredited school that will accept CTU's credits such as Western Governors, University of Phoenix, or Grand Canyon U. Once you earn your accredited MSN degree, you will become eligible to complete a nurse practitioner post-masters certification.

OR- just switch right now and get into an accredited BSN program. More direct route- cut your losses early.

I wish it was that easy.....But I already came so far, my graduation date is in June 2015. That is time and money invested, that I just don't want to loose.

Thank you. I contacted Phoenix university yesterday. I asked specifically about the FNP, and they said "No" they would not accept my BSN. I'm suppose to speak to someone from the nursing department on Monday. I will ask them about the other "nursing leadership" or "nursing education" program as you suggest.

Thank you so much, because at least there appears to be a light at the end of the tunnel now.

I will update you as soon as I speak to them on Monday.

Thank you again.

What is CTU?

CTU is Colorado Technical University.

They have a campus and online class. I am attending their online class.

Overall I feel the online school is very good, but their BSN program is not accredited.

Thank you so much for your advice.

I contacted Phoenix University and they provided me with the same information that you did.

According to the Nursing admission advisor I would be able to take the MSN in education. After I complete the MSN in education, I would be able to take the FNP if I still wanted too.

I'm glad that there is a light at the end of this tunnel for me.

Thank you again.

The tuition for 's MSN in education is significantly cheaper than U. of Phoenix. Just some food for thought.

Update: Turns out CTU received CCNE accreditation while I was in school. So my options opened up in regards to where I can attend school. I'm excited and happy so I wanted to share this joy!
