Centered-rn, do you have addt'l coursework you will need to do, or do you just have to do core nursing classes? Also, any idea if there are any courses that require a preceptor, as well as have you go somewhere like a community clinic, etc. to complete a project?

Most importantly....are you still liking GCU?

    Thx!

Pandorasbox. I looked at the GCU website and my core classes. I don't think there is a clinical or anything of the nature. I'm waiting for my GCU grad friend to get back to me. I sent you a pm, but it looks like a capstone project which is a writing project.

I'm hoping centered still likes it!

I am just doing core nursing classes. No courses require a preceptor that I know of. I am still loving GCU and will move into the MSN/MBA program in Jan 2014.

That is really good to hear! So no "cons" that you can think of?

So far everyone I have talked to has been very helpful.

How long is the MSN/MBA program?

Well good for you! I wish you luck! I'm happy to hear you are thinking ahead. You must be happy or you wouldn't stay with them.

I wish I was as far as you are now. Sigh... I just can't stop thinking about that stats class. I really need to pass that blasted class.

Oh please do! I would love a heads up on how I can study ahead of time and what the expectations are.

It's the only class, minus the capstone project giving me an ulcer, lol.

I live in the area of GCU so I am beefy familiar with the school. My SIL is in their brick and mortar nursing program and I know several people that went there for other degrees. The issue I have is that I am not Christian and it is a faith based school. Have you had any Christian themes in your coursework so far?

Ok. I don't have stats until Jan. That is a good thing since I am accepted on conditions that I make a 3.0 in my first 4 classes. Stats is my fifth class, so that is good.
You write a paper every week. There are 2 discussion questions you must answer every week. First question is due by Wednesday, second question is due by Friday. You must comment on two other student's discussion questions for 4 out of 7 days. So you make a total of 8 post to other student's comments, and post 2 answers to discussion questions every week. It really is not that bad. You just need to get into a rhythm. There is required reading every week. There is one group project per class. Usually a powerpoint presentation. Its not bad! Get PEERLA to help you write the papers in APA format. All papers are due by 11:59pm on Sunday time zone of whichever Phoenix, AZ is in. Each class is 5 weeks long, weeks starting Monday at midnight to Sunday at 11:59pm.
What else can I tell you?
Hi centered-rn, I will be starting the program on Jan 14th. Today I had a talk with my enrollment specialist and he mentioned that we are to answer one or two discussion questions from the instructor, respond/comment to two students each week for 3 out of 7 days. However, on a previous post you said that we have to login/comment for 4 out of 7 days. So far have all your classes been set up that way? Having to login and comment 4 days out of 7 seems a bit much. My problem is that I am doing 12's on Wed/Thu/Fri (rotating schedule), and in addition to that I have an average of a 2 1/2 - 3 hr commute. I am just starting that shift and have no idea how my body will react to it. Now I am freaking out that I will not be able to comply with those requirements. Honestly, is it doable?

    Thanks!

It is doable! Anything it when u put your mind to it. I am working 55 hrs a week, two jobs one day shift job one night shift job, have four year old son and a husband and I have a 4.0 GPA. I have gotten an A in my first four courses.
I had to post 4 out of 7 days for the first two classes. After that, 3 out of 7 days.
