Great option for prerequisites online

Nursing Students School Programs

I thought I would share this option for those pursuing degrees online. I had most of the prerequisites for my degree program; however, I needed a couple of classes and I didn't want to pay a fortune or spend a ton of time completing them. I found this option and thought I would share.

Louisiana State University

Students work at their own pace by submitting a series of assignments and taking one or more examinations.

Another option is American Council on Education (ACE) courses. Which can be completed at a distance through various organizations.

This link will provide a way to find your course and the organizations that offer it:

ACE CREDIT | The National Guide to College Credit for Workforce Training | Find a Course or Exam

You can find a link to the organizations site by searching here:

For Example I need American Literature:

I searched for the course first and this came up.

Specializes in ICU.

Have you taken a course through this program yet?

Specializes in NICU, Acute Rehab, Med/Surg, Quality.

Other programs to earn college credit are DSST and CLEP. Much cheaper. I have taken both.

Yes. I did take one course and it was very doable. Didn't require allot of time because I worked at my own pace. I had 9 months to completed the course but I did it in 2 months. My instructor was very responsive and a fair grader.

I did consider CLEP but what I needed to take I didn't know allot about. Therefore, I needed to take a class. But my work is very demanding and I don't have allot of time. So, I needed something flexible.

Specializes in ICU.

So you took American Lit through there, any other courses?

No. All I took was American Lit. It's an alternative to Clep. I'm keeping them in my back pocket if I need more classes.
