FSCJ Summer 2017 Hopefuls

Students School Programs

Published

I wanted to create a new thread for Summer 2017 hopefuls (it seems far away, but it will be here before we know it).

I am very excited to start this journey, but I have to finish a few more prereqs. I am wanting to buy a HESI A2 study book, but I am not sure which one to go with. Does anyone have any suggestions? I saw on one thread where a lady swore by Elsevier, but I want to make sure that is a good one before I buy it. Thanks in advance.

Hi, Dev. I too will be applying for Summer 2017. I have 2 prereqs to finish this summer: AP2 & Micro.

It is nice to "meet" you, HidingSun. Good luck on this fantastic journey. Perhaps we will be in school together. :-) Have you taken the HESI yet? I am nervous about it.

I haven't taken the Hesi. I want to get AP2 and Micro done to have a stronger science base before the test. I'm excited about going back to school. I want to do something to help people other than teaching (done it for 20 yrs).

I am a teacher, too. :-) Not nearly as long, but that is a neat connection.

That is so neat! Maybe we will be in the same cadre.

Dev, I saw that post and checked numerous other ones to verify the Elsevier. It seems Elsevier makes very good study aids according to posts here. On a side note, I challenged the CNA test last week and passed. I'll be applying for one of those positions this summer while I finish my prereqs.

Hi! Also applying for the summer of 2017 term. Currently taking A&PII. Need Chem (to fulfill Micro Prereq) Microbiology, Human Development and the Hesi. Anybody know how many points I should aim for? If I take a class in Fall that ends before the December 1st deadline will the points for that grade in my class count towards my application? Good luck to you all!

From other posts on here if your point ate around 190 or higher you've got a good chance. And as long as your grades post and you can get a transcript to turn in by deadline then the classes will count.

J,

I emailed this very question to Cheryl James and she said that you can't use the points for that class on your application if you are enrolled at the time of the deadline. That could mean a loss of 24 points just for that one class if you get an A in it (if I am understanding the points correctly).

Thanks for the info! Yeah I'm planning on having to take micro in the fall so I'm gonna have to take an accelerated course so my grade will be posted before the deadline
