Duke University ABSN Fall 2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I just wanted to start a thread for prospective students hoping to start Duke's ABSN program in the Fall of 2018! Feel free to leave any questions or background info!

Okay it makes me feel SO much better that it is not just me! It must be a glitch in the system. The test score section is for people to submit GRE scores if they had below a certain GPA (I think like 3.3). @futurenurse805 will you let us know what they say to you on Monday?

Is anyone else still unable to log into their SISS?

Okay, my SISS is finally available but it shows transcripts are still desired from one of my universities too. Even though both institutions have verified they've been sent.

I heard back from my advisor and the transcripts have to be uploaded manually, so that's why it shows that.

Hey guys! I applied too :) I really want an entry-level MSN program, but Duke is ranked so highly, I conceded!

3.36 undergrad GPA in Computer Science from a good university. 157V 157Q 5.0W, Prereq GPA...around 3.8 now?

Good luck to everyone!!

Did anyone apply for the HEA program?

Hi everyone! I also applied to the fall entry ABSN cohort, and I'm obviously a bit anxious as I'm sitting here googling about the program. How fun to find this thread! I look forward to continuing to check these posts and keeping up with everyone's progress. A bit about me: I have two bachelor's degrees in psychology and music and an MS/EdS in Couples and Family Counseling. I've been a licensed therapist for the past 10 years, and while I love my job, I'm looking to broaden my scope of practice. I'm interested in Midwifery and women's health, but am also considering psychiatric NP, as there's a critical shortage of mental health practictioners in our state. Fortunately, I have some time to decide. Keep us all posted...I've enjoyed reading these.

Hey guys! Any idea when we'll hear back about results? There are no interviews, right?

I wish they admitted on a rolling basis so there would be hope I could get the decision any day but alas, the perpetual wait goes on

Edit: I'm only interested in being an NP not an RN so I want to do their early notification thing for the MSN program. Do most students in the ABSN program get accepted?

We won't here anything about acceptance until end of March/early April. I am not sure about the acceptance rate for the MSN program.

Oh really? That's a month later than the rest of the programs I'm applying to:(

hear* I was typing quickly earlier. And yes, it's a longer wait but hopefully one that's worth it.

What do you think the odds are that they'll let us know much sooner? I would hope they just say March to give themselves wiggle room, but they're really aiming for February sort of thing.

And it being "worth it" might be irrelevant if other schools force decisions and deposits before we even hear back from Duke :'(
