Drexel University ACE Spring 2010

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello all,

I just received a letter from saying that my application for the ACE program is now complete and I'm waiting for a response. I was wondering if anyone else here is applying for the same program and received an acceptance letter already?:uhoh3: I'm trying to be patient but I wish I knew how long it will take...

Yes, it did help to give us a better picture. Thank you for that! Did you feel that the siminar and everything else from that point adequately prepared you for the Hesi exam?

I just want to say thank you to all the current and fomer students that posted because I feel like I am getting inside info!:yeah:

Hi PrincessO - I don't think it was necessarily the senior seminar that prepared me, it was more nursing school in general, and the seminar was just a review. Depending on the topic that day, I sometimes found it more helpful to read over the powerpoints and use the lecture time to study/do NCLEX questions or go to the lab with my study group instead (yeah, we'd all skip class together :)).

Before I started, a former ACE student told me to make sure I kept a steady pace throughout the program. It turned out to be really good advice...my study group and I met consistenly and made sure we kept reviewing topics we didn't understand (sadly, they don't go away after the test is over). I guess in a way, I just thought of the whole program as one long class, and HESI was like a big final. We were good about supporting each other & staying positive, and I think that helped a lot.

Good luck with your decision making! Have you started your applications yet?

I checked my status for Spring 2010 and it says that my application is on hold, but it also says that I am not missing any information. Can anyone tell me what this means? Thank you!

Have you called them?

I just noticed it on Friday. I am going to call them today.

Hi - I know I have to wait to hear back , but I am wondering what the experiences have been with how easily Drexel accepted courses you had taken for the prerequisities? I have been reading the boards and I had not read complaints that Drexel was overly picky. Did you find that Drexel generally accepted most of the courses you had already taken if they were similar to the description. For example, I have an English Course- Advanced Writing and assume it would count for English Composition or that a business and marketing communications course would count for the communication course?

This thread is now huge! But I don't think anyone has answered you yet. In my first degree, I tested out of "English 101" and ended up taking a couple of upper level English classes... "Historical Fiction," stuff like that. Not sure exactly which they picked to use as my prereq, but it went through just fine. I think they accepted a performance class for my communication course. Especially with the non-science stuff, I don't think they are too picky. My first school was on the quarter system, and I was convinced that would try and fight me on the quarter->semester conversions, but they didn't.

Hi Everyone! I've recently been accepted in 's Spring 2010 cohort, and am most likely going to attend this program. I went to Drexel for Undergrad, and it's actually my #1 choice for an Accelerated BSN because of the start date (I'll be finishing my pre-reqs in this December 2009), length and location (I have found that I prefer a city, I can not do country). I'm overjoyed about this letter because I didn't plan on being able to get into Drexel since I didn't apply until Oct 2009 (because I thought I've had enough with Philly, but now decided I'm not ready to move West until I have my RN), and I know many of you applied April 2009. Now, I'm a research maniac about their program via this websites, the FB page, etc so I can decide if (again) DU is right for me. Chances are if they hook me up whatsoever with scholarship/financial aid (especially since I've already graduated once from there!), it'll seal this deal and I'll see you all in the Spring.

Since I've read most of this feed, and its some accepted, some who have applied, and some with just general questions about Drexels ACE; does anyone think I should start a new thread for those who have been accepted for Spring 2010? Then we can start sharing information about books, advice, housing and the like. I always was planning on creating a facebook group, because I see how much Fall 2009 is using theirs (you can join this group on FB, even though we're not in that cohort- especially to buy books from people that are 6 months ahead of us). I feel as if I've researched a lot of ACE details, and would like to share and also recieve information from other soon to be students of Spring 2010. Let me know! Also, this is my first message on allnurses. Last, I absolutely can't wait to be a nurse :)

Hey...I think it would be a great idea to start a facebook group for accepted students! I will be attending starting in March and would love to get to know everyone and be able to discuss info on books, classes, etc.

Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hi everyone! I'm also starting the ACE-BSN program in March 2010!! Is anyone planning to live in Stiles apartments? It seems like everyone is either commuting or renting a place near by. anyone planing to live at Stiles please contact me ([email protected]). I think making a facebook group is a great idea!

Very excited to start the program and meet all of you!!

I have now taken the exit HESI four times as well and have received above a 900 each time with conversion scores of 85 mid, 84 high and my last two scores were 86.02 and 86.4. I cannot begin to tell you how frustrated I am. I do not know where to go from here either. It is extremely difficult for me to try and come up with another 3 grand not knowing if I will ever even get my degree in the end. You mention class action lawsuits, are they against ? Something needs to be done in this situation. It is far from fair.

Please join the facebook group!

In the facebook search, simply write ACE Program Spring 2010, and the group should pop up! Let me know if you have any problems and I can try to manually invite you!

Stuck 11,

I am so sorry to hear of your struggle.

So are you not allowed to graduate from the program, that is your diploma is held even though you are hundredths of a point from the "magic" 87/950 on the exit HESI? That does seem grossly unfair since, from what I have read, most schools require an 850 exit HESI, if they have any requirement. It is completely illogical to believe you are that much less likely to pass the boards because your score is 0.06 points lower?

Is there no appeals process?

A friend of mine was accepted by the ACE program and Villanova's BSN Express. This person was already leaning toward Villanova for many reasons, but the rigidity of on the exit Hesi was part of the reason to choose another school.

Starting the facebook group was a great idea- I've been wanting to start one. I'm so excited for the program to begin- only 3 more months! I hope it flies by.

Also, does anyone know the deadline for payment for the first quarter?
