Did anyone ever complete their RN-BSN through Kaplan University?

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

I'm thinking of getting my BSN online through Kaplan University but I have to make a fast decision since they start Nov. 10. I have spoken with one of their advisers, the program seems costly 375 dollars per one credit... I'm looking for opinions (the program will last 2 years (full time) thanks.

P.s. I'm looking for an online program since I work home health care.

If interested in what others have to say about Kaplan University please take a look at our Kaplan University | Peer Reviews.

They are taking things like nursing research and nursing theory online. Nothing wrong with that.

I am interested in starting the RN to BSN program. Has anyone completed this program recently? How would you rate the experience?

Hi LMLYNN,

I don't know if I would qualify since I graduated almost a year ago but a couple of my nursing coworkers just finished theirs and the experience was as good for them as me. One of them has decided that she wants her BSN and will stop. But the other friend is going on for her MSN. I think that kind of says it all. If we received our BSNs there and willing to go for an MSN at the same place, I feel lets people know that we liked their program.

Whatever or whichever you decide, best wishes to you.

Thank you Aradien! That is great to know!

Aradien,

Were you not concerned with all of the bad reviews about Kaplan? It looks like most of it has to do with financial issues. Did you have any financial issues?

Hi, I'm looking to start next month. How did you like the RN to BSN program?

Hi LMLYNN,

I paid for my education out of pocket, so I did not need financial aid. But I have not heard any other issues from other people.

Hi RNbri,

I very much enjoyed my time with Kaplan and their RN to BSN program. I would suggest though that if you are thinking about going on to an MSN, that you sign up for the RN to MSN program. They offer an excellent MSN Nurse Educator program. I have a friend who graduated December 2013 and is working as a Clinical instructor. She is thinking of going for her doctorate. I don't know which one though.

Best wishes,

Aradien

I am currently completing my RN to BSN at Kaplan and I have really enjoyed it. I have a few more courses to finish before I get my BSN, and then I am going to immediately start taking MSN courses. I researched for days before deciding on this program. I feel like I have learned quite a lot and am able to apply coursework to my clinical practice. I will be doing FNP. Loved everything so far.

Hi celene,

I have a couple of questions? Is the program adult learner, working nurse friendly? How long did it take you to finish the program? Also, are there tests, quizzes, and papers? A combination of all three, one out of the three dominating the coursework, or only one of the three such as papers dominating the coursework? Is is easy to get help or tutoring? My final question if you don't answer anything else is how were you able to complete clinical? Thanks!

Hi Aradien, did you ever start Kaplan's MSN program?

I was considering Kaplan, , and Nightingale College. Nightingale's tuition is also at $375/credit hour. I selected NC because they were fully accredited and their capstone project has helped so many nurses stand out at their workplace. Since graduating I'm being considered for the DON role and my administrator told me it was because of Nightingale's project that got me this opportunity. I did not need GEs so I finished in 2 semesters (8mo). I had a friend that went to Kaplan and it was ok, but I think she wished she would have gone to Nightingale with me.

I sure see a lot of negative and VERY incorrect comments on here . I got my LPN and RN at Kaplan and they are obviously accredited. And in iowa they have a much higher board pass rate the. A lot of the colleges. Teachers are amazing unlike disrepectful community college teachers .
