Hey everyone. I am a 43 yo male LPN with many years experience working with special needs children and young adults. I worked as a CNA before blowing out my L4-L5 & L5-S1 at the tender age of 21. I have been a Phlebotomist, I loved that job! I am proud of where I am now and I am also a US Navy vet. I worked on jet turbines then. Now, my turbine experience comes in handy when working with my vent dependent kids. I have had 4 back surgeries and keep coming back to my calling in life. I was 27 when I went to school and graduated 2nd in my class, only because I did not want to give a speech! No thank you. I have gone about as far as I can go in the field as an LPN, especially due to my back issues. I have put this off long enough and I know I can earn my ASN. I just want to find the right online school for me. As I am in homecare, I do have time during the day to do some school work of my own as my client does his own school work....aka, Playstation 3 and his laptop. I love that kid! I was not impressed with a particular school's presentation and the way I was spoken to by their presenter. I will not name the school. I am looking at the College Network. I started to talk to them over 5 years ago and didn't have the courage to go through with it. Looking back, what a mistake. In the past 2 yrs, I have become the caregiver for my Father, lost my marriage and my house. It is time to take my life back. If anyone knows of any grants or special financing for men, please let me know. I am not from the inner city and I am not African American. I am just a man trying to better himself and not finding much in the way of assistance for me. Thank you to everyone in the field who give us a good reputation as being the good guys. I will appreciate all info and leads that you give me. Best of luck to you all!
