I am accepting a seat at Baptist School in San Antonio for Spring 2014. Does anyone know when the first day of school is? What about nearby apartments that range from 500-600 month for 1 bedroom. I am relocating from Houston... Read More

Question, are any of you that will be attending BSHP in Jan. still waiting for your financial aid award letter? I was told that I could expect to receive an email a couple of weeks from Nov 7, my processing day. Did anybody get theirs yet? Anybody in the same boat as me? I'm really curious as to how much if any I will be responsible for coming up with out of pocket. Processing day was a little stressful for me to, I also thought there was quite a bit of info thrown at me very fast; guess that's nursing school for you!
I'm still waiting for that award letter also, I would really like to know what I'm up against. ------ mentioned that we will get it before December ends, but that's very vague... Also have to start saving up for those first semester books $$$! I'm wondering how much reading they're having us do over the winter break. I guess they want us to be prepared to hit the ground running!

okay, thanks for that input Kmoc. Looks like you and I are in the same boat. I'm George btw feel free to message me if you want discuss anything about the program. Since we will be going thru it together, it's my opinion you can never have too many friends. Not sure if we are allowed to give contact info but I figure what good is this site if you can't use it to make important school and work contacts that are nursing related.

No problem! I'll message you my contact info as well. I agree, I'd like to get to know my peers a bit before school starts and everything is hectic. I'll post on here when I get my award letter, incase someone in this thread (or even the people who read it that haven't made an account) don't regularly check their inbox.

Sound good! I'm more than a bit nervous about this new journey we are about to start. I can't help but feel we kinda need to stick together and try to be of some service to one another. I look forward to hearing from you in the future!

Do y'all know when we are expected to get our schedules with class times/days/etc?? I am very anxious to know if I will be able to go home on the weekends!

Yes, Jan 6th! I've been wondering the same thing. My best guess is that we'll have them by orientation/student success since we'll be going over our reading assignments. I've heard of students in the past getting theirs a month after acceptance, but I don't know if that's still how they do it. If you happen to get a Friday clinical, driving back home would be a viable option since the clinicals usually run from 0645-1245.

Hi Kmoc! you said clinicals are usually from 645 to 1245. And I remember being told during in processing that they like to have clinical days back to back like mon & tue or Wed & Thurs. Question do you by any chance know the classroom hours we will be keeping. I so in to work each day at 3 and I'm hoping we will get out of class each day by at least 2. I got your contact info, thanks! Have you bought all the books we're going to be using during the 1st semester yet. Looks like Amazon is going to be the best place to get them. The prices seem a little cheaper there than what is quoted on the school provided book list. Also, on that list, the 1st book listed foundations for nursing practice. The notes say, that we much purchase SLS sccess package to participate in next clinical course. Do you know what exactly the SLS is? I don't want to buy this book online and then find out that it was supposed to come with something extra and then not have it.

Here's part of an email ------- sent me a couple months ago when I requested more information: "Day students are in class and/or clinical Monday through Friday of each week. Classes are typically held three days a week from 9am and 2pm, approximately; clinicals are held twice a week, usually from 6:45am until 12:45pm. Please note that this schedule is subject to change." I haven't bought the books yet, I'm going to wait until the official book list is posted (even though I doubt they'll change). As for the SLS package, I'm not 100% sure! but on amazon when you use the ISBN to search, a package form of the book comes up, it includes a DVD and study guide. I will be sure to ask on orientation/ student success days. There's also another book on the list somewhere that I cannot find on amazon that I think we will have to buy from L&M, but I've already forgotten which book that is, I don't think it's first semester anyways. If anyone else knows anything about this I would love to know, too!
