BA in Psychology and want to pursue a nursing degree for career advancement.

Nursing Students School Programs

Hello All,

I just joined the site after reading several threads related to my own question. I have my BA in psychology from temple 2007, and I worked as a HIV Counselor for 5 years post graduating, I am now employed as a Social Worker at a Senior Center and I desperately miss the work I was doing in public health. I am very passionate about sexual health and I would like to work as a professional sexual health consultant and educator for agencies that service youth or high risk populations. I have looked into the Sexual health education program at widener and have found that the program is too expensive and also requires GRE/MAT, which I have no desire to take at this point in my adult life. I feel like a nursing degree would give me the credentials, experience and training required to eventually realize my career goals in public health, while also providing the flexibility and financial compensation I am looking for.

I have my BA and therefore my undergrad studies were very light in sciences. I would like to know if anyone has enrolled in the program, or done research and would be able to help me. I need almost all of the science prerequsites...Chem I & II, stats, microbiology, and A & P. Unfortunately I took 3 of them my first year undergrad at widener and did not pass. I did however graduate from Temple U with a cumulative GPA of 3.35. I am at a different place st 29 yrs old than I was at 18 so I think I am fully capable of passing those sciences now with ease. However, I am unsure of how I should go about taking the prereq. so that they can transfer into TJU FACT program and so that I can enter into the program ASAP.
