APU 2+2 Nursing Summer 2016!

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everybody!! I joined this website last year but I have been on and off many times. I applied to APU 2+2 program last year and just got accepted into Summer of 2016. I am so excited to start and was wondering if anyone has been accepted yet into summer 2016 also.

I was curious to know what others were going to do with the break in between now and next summer because i am prepared and anxious to start but want to keep my memory fresh of all my classes i just finished!!!!!!!

I know this is a great site to communicate with people that share the same interests so im hoping there are many APU students that use this site

Hi Lady,

Congrats on getting in APU. I know this post is a few months old I hope you are still there. I was wondering if I could ask a few questions like:

1. Where did you take your GE classes

2. How long did it take for you to complete your GE classes

3.What was your GPA

4. Did you have work experience

- I am now working on my GE classes

-Hope you hear from you soon:sneaky:

Hi my name is Denise and I also got accepted into APU's 2+2 nursing program for summer 2016. I've been trying to find anyone in that class to talk to about the program. I have so many questions about tuition and loans. I just haven't heard back from them.

Hi @denisecam,

Congrats on getting in APU. I am only working on my GE classes but, I did contact APU and was told the programs was $61,000. I was wondering if I could ask a few questions like:

Sorry for the late reply....

1. I took my GE classes at el Camino college and my university I started at when I came out of high school.

2. It took me about 2 1/2 years because I wanted to retake some classes and/or take higher levels since I was applying to a bachelor's program in nursing.

3. My overall GPA was pretty low... It was about 3.1 because I had taken so many unnecessary classes my first two years in college and didn't become serious about nursing until after. My science GPA alone was okay.. It's about a 3.5.

4. I did not have work experience. I know it is a big plus but after I became serious about my nursing career I was moving at full speed taken multiple classes at different schools and only had time for a small part time job. A job in the medical field would have required me to take more classes. I did however complete an E.M.T program but never went to apply for the job.

I would definitely recommend taking your classes at a college that isn't so impacted and taking your time. Not to take too many classes at once. Also, getting a job in the field would help you alot since I know the challenge of getting into nursing school is only growing more difficult.

I'd be happy to answer any other questions you have! :)

Your thread has been moved to the Nursing Schools / Colleges forum where the other school specific discussions are. We hope you will receive additional responses in this new location.

Hi! I have also been accepted into the program and would really appreciate it if you can tell me how the program is! Such as how it is structured, tuition, if some material has to be self taught, etc. Thank You!

is this the 2+2 program that you have been accepted into?

Tuition: the program is currently $62,000. This does not include books and supplies, housing, or gas to travel to clinical sites.

Structure: this will be heavily covered in orientation however, it is a 6 semester program. All semesters are back to back, including summers, and each semester is 15 weeks long.

Self taught material: from my experience with the program, none of the material was self taught. All clinical skills were reviewed and checked off by faculty and your first time doing any skill in clinical is observed by your instructor. Any time after that your RN that you are following must be present.

I hope this helps!

Thank you! I was also wondering how and if religion is incorporated into the program as I am not very religious.

Since it is a Christian university there is a faith component to just about every aspect. You do not have to be a Christian to attend. I knew one girl in my cohort who did not believe. They don't punish you or treat you differently. The professors do try to incorporate faith into what they teach. You are required to take 3 bible courses (it may be 2) and you have two chapels that you attend on main campus during the annual nursing reach symposium. I don't believe chapel is required at this campus.
