Applied to LMU last week for Spring

Nursing Students School Programs

I don't know how their "rolling admissions" works at LMU, but I did not find out about Spring admissions in Alcoa until last week. I applied immediately. My GPA is 3.2 but will go up after this semester since I am making all A's so far. I had to retake A&P II, but I am making an A in it this time and will then have all of my prereqs finished (plus some for BSN).

Since it says to "try" to apply by August/September, even though it is a rolling admissions process with no real deadline, and I didn't apply until mid-October... do you think this will affect their decision?

Is my GPA high enough to even get in?? I am slightly worried, especially since I applied later than recommended.

Does anyone even get on this website anymore?

I applied to the program September 2014, and I got my acceptance letter March 14th, 2015. My GPA was around 3.5. Have you heard anything yet?

I forgot my password so I'm logged in under another email but I'm the author of the original post. I did get accepted. I'm about to start my second semester now! Thanks for checking! When do you start?

I start this August, and I'm quitting my FT job of 8 years for NS so a little nervous... but I CANNOT WAIT! :)

What's the program/weekly schedule like? Good instructors??

Which campus will you be at?

Cedar Bluff

I'm not sure about the teacher there. You should have one day a week of lecture and for the first six weeks you will have a day of lab then the next six weeks no labs but a day of clinical.

So like 2 full days on campus per week? Are you working at all??

Yes, two full days a week. I'm taking other classes as well. I haven't been working. I find it easier to concentrate on my studies and I also have five kids. You aren't allowed to work for so many hours before a clinical from what I hear. They are also known for adding extra days or changing days as needed. Your first week will include an extra day for syllabus review. I'm starting Summer semester next month and it is 4 days a week, 2 lecture/2 clinical. The first week it will be 5 days. You are welcome to find me on facebook or email me if you would like more info.

Wow! 5 kids... how do you do it? And how old are your kids??

I have an almost 2 year old son... he's in daycare 2 days per week and with my mom 3 days. We're hoping to keep it that way as I go through this program.

If you can PM, send me your email. I can't PM because I haven't posted 15 messages on AN, and I had to get off Facebook when I started pre-reqs... was just spending too much time there! Lol

I don't know if I can PM or not, really! As far as the kids are concerned, mine are ages 8 through 18. They kinda watch after each other a lot but it still gets rough sometimes with various schedules going on and my daughter (8) is on a softball team so I try to go to all her games. It seems like you have a good setup going with childcare. You should be fine. My best advice is to know that it's time consuming but as long as you don't panic and stay calm it will all be ok. I panicked and then when I started I wondered what I panicked for! I have a 95 average in foundations right now. I put the work in and I study and it's all great. Dosage calculations can make or break you though. I recommend you go ahead and go on the Lmu website under nursing and find the link that says "current students" and get the dosage packet and work through it some. I made a 100 on the first try and never had to retake it but some failed all 3 tries and were removed from the program.
