Alvin Community College - ADN Spring 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello.... The application period for Alvin Community College spring 2017 ADN program starts in 2 days... I will be submitting my application for consideration. Just wanted to know if there is anyone else who will be applying too.

Hey!

Yeah, I'm going to submit mine for consideration, too. I haven't taken my HESI yet, but I'm planning on taking it on Sept 12th. I guess I'll just put my stats on here according to what they've put as their ranking system and for priority admission:

-Number of completed courses in program: 7 (API, APII, Microbiology, Composition I, General Psyc, Lifespan, and an Arts Elective)

-GPA from the completed courses: 3.16

-HESI scores: TBD

-Prereq GPA: 3.06

-Science GPA: 3.33

-Completed BIOL 2420

-I have a previous Bachelor's degree

I'll post my HESI scores up here once I've taken it.

Best of luck!!

Hello,

I'll also be applying; although, I don't have all of my prerequisite/non-nursing courses completed. Here are my stats:

Anat & Phys I - A

Composition I - A

General Psychology - A

Anat & Phys II - In progress

Medical Micro - In progress

Lifespan Growth & Development - In progress

HESI Exam - 92%

I realize I don't have a very good chance at getting in since I haven't completed all the prerequisite/non-nursing courses, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to apply anyway.

Hey! :)

I'm also applying.

Overall GPA and prereq GPA is about the same: 3.6-3.7

Overall HESI is 96.4

-A&P = 100

-Vocab = 100

-Grammar = 98

-Math = 94

-Reading Comp = 90

-Critical Thinking = 950

Y'all's GPAs are way better than mine! A lot of my non-science prereqs were done at the beginning of my first degree, and I wasn't really serious about college back then. :( It'll probably come down to what my HESI scores are. What did y'all do to study for it? And how long did y'all study for it?

MM817,

I used the HESI Admission Assessment Exam Review, 4th edition, by Elsevier (same people who make the test), and I downloaded the HESI A2 Pocket Prep app. I literally studied for about 8 hrs/day for a week. Also, you should probably use your notes from class to study for the A&P section -- some of the questions go into a lot of detail.

I studied the HESI review book by Elsevier. It's purple and white. I also used study apps that I downloaded to my phone. I started really studying as soon as the spring semester ended and continued for about two weeks. Once summer school started for me, I relied a lot on the apps on my phone to help me study for HESI, since I was also taking classes.

Overall, having gone through both A&P classes, the Elsevier book, and the apps helped me a lot.

All of you have great GPAs.

I submitted my application this morning with:

4.0 pre-requisite gpa

Creative Art/language : B

Micro: A

Lifespan: B

Hesi overall: 91.20%.

I really hope it's enough. I attended the information session today and we were told that the acceptances/denials will be sent out via email around Thanksgiving... That's so far away!

Thanksgiving? Wowza. Lol

I wanted to go to the session, but was afraid I'd miss class.

Hey, approximately how long was the info session? Maybe I can go to the next one and have time to make it to class.

It was a little over an hour...

Ok great. Thanks so much! Did you learn anything in the session that they didn't have on the website?

Not really, to be honest.. But that's because I studied that school website like it an actual course in school lol. She did go into about the Hep B series needed or the titer and also the possible need for a declaratory order it there is anything that may show up from your past.
