To Veteran Oncology RN's - How to get started?

Dear Veterans,

I am approaching graduation & will take my NCLEX soon. I went into nursing school thinking I wanted to work in L&D. However, out of all our clinical rotations, I fell in love with adult oncology, (even in some of the worst work environments). My goal is to gain experience and eventually try for a Chemotherapy Certification.

How likely is it that I will get into an Oncology unit fresh out of school?

Do you have any pointers for job interviews on these units?

Do you have any advice on additional texts to read in preparation? I would like information on dealing with the emotional effects of cancer too!

I admire Oncology nurses so much! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
