Does anyone have advice on how to study for the OCN?? Trying to take it this summer but don't know where to start!

I reviewed questions in the Study Guide for the Core Curriculum in Oncology Nursing, which I got through Oncology Nurses Society. I don't know if you're a member, but if you are, you get a pretty nice discount on the exam and on any publications, including the study guide. I just studied the major areas first, then the areas with a lower concentration of questions second. I think on the website it gives you a breakdown by percentage for number of questions. When you go to the area to apply for the test, there's a link where you can take like 20 practice questions to get a feel for your knowledge.

Although it doesn't have as many questions, make sure you brush up on professionalism, clinical trials, etc.

Good luck to you!

Jones & Bartlett online question review

Did you just skim through the questions or did you study them enough to basically memorize them? And which version- the green or purple book?

I took the exam four years ago and just rectified, so my text was much older. Get the one that's the most recent, but as I sad, the Study Guide gives you a feel for how the questions are asked in the exam.

I wouldn't say I skimmed, but if there was an area the I knew well, I didn't spend a lot of time on it. If there was an area I was having trouble with, then I pulled out my Core Curriculum for Oncology Nurses and did a more in depth review of the material.

I studied to learn the material. Memorization doesn't help you pull everything together so you can use it in your practice.
