South Dayton Hospitals for Oncology?

by tory

I feel I've always had "oncology nurse" stamped on my heart. I love the pts and know it's my calling. My first 4 years of nursing was in adult oncology. To make a long story short, I left the field due to stressors in my personal life (i.e., divorce, parent dying from cancer, etc). Basically, too taxing on myself and needed to "breathe" elsewhere in another specialty for awhile. Now, 4 years later I feel the calling to go back to oncology.

I'd like opinions/advice on what hospitals would be a good choice for this field. I live just north of Dayton/OH but not sure I want to look into the Premiere Health Hospitals (Miami Valley, UVMC or Good Sam). I've been told that Cincinnati hospitals are the way to go for several reasons including higher pay, high tech area, etc. I'm not familiar with other hospitals that may be closer. Also hoping that I don't have to drive 1-1/2 hrs to get their either.

Can anyone give me their input on hospitals to look into and what pay ranges are to be expected (9 years of nursing experience). Please don't think I'm only interested in the salary. I just want to make sure I make enough to pay my mortgage, etc. and seems some places think $20/hr will cut it.

Thanks for all your help!!!
